My Interpretation

"I am going to send a 'dire' famine to this land"

The 'Dire Famine' that God was promising to send was clearly represented by the fire that passed through the building. The fire that God sent was quick and sure but the results of it were devastating and long lasting.

The words 'to this land' surely points to the building itself representing the United Kingdom and the contrast between before and after the fire, (hardly anyone in the store) points out that the result of this fire was a catastrophic loss in the purchasing power by the residents of the UK. So, it is an economic issue. As mentioned, having suffered the last recession the word 'dire' is very very troubling indeed.

I was always confused by the word "Famine" being used in an economical setting but now it is so very clear, a famine of money, our big problem today (financially) is that there is no money around, no one is lending so no one is borrowing, thus no one is buying. As no one is buying there is no need for production and people are being laid-off at a terrifying rate, people who themselves can no longer purchase and so it goes on.

I was also confused recently by the words 'to this land' as I was expecting an isolated UK recession/depression but it now appears to be World wide therefore I believe the 'dire' relates to the UK and not all countries, in other words it is going to be much much worse here. The fact must still be noted that God can not be limited to only sending a 'dire famine' to the UK alone just because He only mentioned us in my dream.

Now to get to the most worrying aspect, the fact that the result of this 'fire' was that around 90% of the purchasing power of the UK will be lost (Actually it is much more than that but I can not bring myself to write it!) The effects of this happening is totally beyond my comprehension, that isn't a recession but some-kind of terrifying depression.

How long will this last? You know as much as me, I find some comfort, although it maybe misguided, that there were still goods in the store unlike Russia during it's very dark hour. But above all what we should be asking ourselves is why? Why did God send this to the UK?
