The Order of Things (Revelation 20).
1st July 2011

Professor Walter Veith.
You’ll find it difficult to discover that he is a Seventh Day Adventist, and thus teaches their doctrine. Yet many are being indoctrinated by SDA doctrine through his many videos, while his SDA stance... though not exactly hidden, is not proclaimed, this I find deceptive.

Having studied with the ‘Seventh Day Advents’, most weekends for over two years, I am reasonably familiar with most of their doctrines. And being so enlightened I can not but notice that the public is being indoctrinated with their belief system unawares. Seventh Day Adventists are not forthcoming when it comes to revealing their denomination, either when meeting face to face or by many of their teaching materials.

And so it is today on Youtube... where numerous videos are presented with absolutely no reference to Seventh Day Adventism. Because of this many believers in Christ are being led into Seventh Day Adventist doctrines.
In my opinion one of their main areas of erroneous teaching is regarding prophecy, especially ‘End-Time Prophecy’. This is a problem... for how can God’s children see ‘The signs of the Times’ if they are taught erroneous eschatology (The Study of Last Things)?

This erroneous way of looking at eschatology comes mainly from the teachings of ‘Ellen G White’, Seventh Day Adventism’s self proclaimed ‘Latter Day Prophet’. Apparently an Angel from God appeared beside her chair when she was writing and gave her understanding of Scripture, and so dictated what she should record as doctrinal truth.

2 Corinthians 11:14
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
So it would appear that ‘The Comforter’ (The Holy Spirit) who Jesus had requested of the Father to be sent into the World, was not enough to give earnestly seeking Christians understanding of Scripture.
John 14:16 & 26
16 - “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;”

.........

26 - But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
I’ve heard many state that we need an organisation to teach us the Bible, quoting...
Acts 8:30-31
30 - And Philip ran to to him, and heard him read the prophet Isaiah, and said, do you Understand what you are reading?
31 - And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
However... as stated previously, scripture clearly teaches us that since Jesus came... we now have not only the full Scriptures of truth to guide us, but the Holy Ghost to expound to us those very same scriptures, thus revealing to mere men the wonderful works of God. Why then did Ellen G White need an angel to appear before her to explain to us Scripture as in the days of old? As today we have Him, the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of truth.

Although it is impossible to cover all of these erroneous teaching in one simplistic blog, if I should expound Revelation chapter 20 in very easy terms, it should go some way in correcting or revealing many SDA End-time errors. The interpretation I am about to relay was not taught by one individual, but has been concluded by multitudes. For it is relatively straight forward... not needing to prop-up any doctrine, made all the more easier by the fact that it can be read in chronological order, not possible if you need it to support an erroneous doctrine where verses are required out of order and out of context.

It is my belief that the Book of the Revelation is ‘generally ’ in blocks that are chronological in order, with intermittent chapters expounding on previous chapters, and the occasional visions of Heaven that serve a similar purpose.

Although I can not go into great detail here, I should like to suggest the following leading-up to the aforementioned chapter 20....

Revelation 17
We are here introduced to a Church that is supported by a commercial city called Babylon [in today’s Iraq] with power, wealth and commercial trading working side by side with an End-time ‘One World’ religious system, something that should not be.

Revelation 18
Babylon, the great commercial city with it’s religious system is suddenly, overwhelmingly and utterly destroyed by a confederacy of Nations.

Revelation 19
After the joy expressed in Heaven at the destruction of this oppressive diabolical city with it’s religious system... by these Nations, Christ appears. And with all the Nations having gathered at the place that is called ‘Armageddon’ they move in to attack Jerusalem, and when all seems lost... Jesus fights for His ‘repentant’ people, a remnant of Jews. At this point the Antichrist and his False Prophet are taken and cast alive directly into Hell. Of the armies that came against Jerusalem whom the Lord fought against, they are completely shattered of which but a sixth of them survives.

Revelation 19:20
And the beast [antichrist] was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast [antichrist] and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone [Hell].
With the whole Earth, it’s armies, cities and World system totally shattered, and two of the ‘unholy’ trinity having been cast directly into Hell [The Ant-christ and False Prophet] we enter into Revelation Chapter 20.

1
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain.

The ‘Bottomless Pit’ mentioned here is neither Hades nor Hell, but a place where celestial beings that have overstepped their authority are held. The Keys were earlier given to an Angel, when the fifth Angel of Revelation 9:1 had sounded his trumpet judgment.
This Abyss, Bottomless Pit or in the Greek... The Abussos (Strongs NT-12)... is the very same place that the demonic called ‘Legion’ was fearful Jesus would cast him. And more... the very same place from where a demonic shall arise to resurrect back to life, the body a great World leader... whom shortly after shall be revealed as antichrist... sitting in the Temple of God, showing himself as God.

2
And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,

As already mentioned, with two of the ‘unholy trinity’ cast into Hell... only Satan remains. Yet God has a final purpose for this third, who will be held in prison until needed.
The thousand year period here mentioned, when Satan is bound corresponds exactly to the ‘One Thousand’ years of the promised ‘Millennium Kingdom’... an Earthly Kingdom that Jesus will set-up at His Second Coming on a devastated Earth.

2 Timothy 2:12
if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us;

Rev 5:10
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

Rev 26b [Below]
...but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.

3
and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.

Satan being bound in the ‘The Abussos’ [Pit] for the duration of the one thousand year Millennium is unable to deceive the Nations upon the Earth as he once did.
Therefore, although the repopulation of the Earth still consists of the same ‘fallen Flesh’ as it does today... it no longer suffers either the temptations of the ‘god of this age’ [For Satan is bound in the Pit] nor the unrighteous rule of Man... for the Lord will reign from Jerusalem with His saints, during this glorious period.

2 Corinthians 4:4
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Ephesians 2:2
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

4 - Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands.

.....Gap intentionally added here by me...

They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

God gives judgment to the saints and all who had died trusting in Christ, these He resurrects immortal and incorruptible. At the very same moment... those alive who trust in Him, who had survived the horrors of ‘The Great Tribulation’ He gives likewise glorious, incorruptible and immortal bodies. And they too shall reign with Christ upon the Earth for one thousand years.

1 Corinthians 15:51-52
51 - Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep [die], but we shall all be changed,
52 - In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 - For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

5 - The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.

.....Gap intentionally added here by me...

This is the first resurrection.

This verse read wrongly can so very easily confuse, as it once did me. The last few words quoted here in verse 5:

“This is the first resurrection.”

...are expressly linked to the last few words quoted above in verse 4, namely:

“They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.”

We could say then, regarding those bodiless souls who had previously died trusting in Christ, even those who He brings with Him at His glorious ‘Second Coming’ that...

Revelation 20:4b
“They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.”
Revelation 20:5b
“This is the first resurrection”

However, the interjection of a verse placed in-between these two statements, regarding the dead who in life had not trusted on the Messiah [who wait in Hades]... throws many into confusion. For between these two statements we read...

Revelation 20:5a
The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.

However, this is simply the style of writing that John chose to contrast the state of affairs between those who had, and those who had not accepted [at that still future point in time] God’s declared punishment for sin... even the death of a Man... even His Son whom God offered in our place, Him who we today know as Jesus, the saviour of our souls.

So... all the righteous dead, who Christ brings with Him from Heaven at His Second Coming, receive new immortal and incorruptible bodies at the start of the Millennium.

As do the righteous living who are upon the Earth at that time...
  • 1 Corinthians 15:51-58
  • Philippians 3:21
  • 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18
However, all the unrighteous dead who are held in Hades at this time... will remain so until after the Millennium, when... as we shall see, they shall be resurrected to stand before a Holy God at the ‘Great White Throne Judgment’ before being sentenced to their eternal place in Hell.

6 - Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.

Here we have confirmed what we have already read... the blessed state of those who are raised at the start of the Millennium, who will reign through it’s duration with Christ for the one thousand years... these having trusted in Christ who took away their sins will not suffer the ‘Second Death’. Which verse 20 shall soon reveal, is being cast into Hell.

Revelation 5:10
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
[So much for the myth that we shall all be seated on clouds in Heaven, board to tears playing harps]

7 - And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison

At the end of the thousand years, Satan is released from his prison... even out of the Abyss. And although scripture does not say it... we have to assume that his angels are released from that place with him. For Satan is about to go out to deceive the Nations upon the Earth, and as he is not omnipresent [Is not able to be in all places at the same time] as is God, we must assume his angels once again do his bidding.

8 - and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea.

As at Armageddon... at the end of this age, so shall it be at the end of the Millennium. For Satan once again tries to wipe-out God‘s people. For if it were possible that he could break scripture, then he might be able to stop that which is written of him in the Scriptures of truth... even his casting into Hell.

Seventh Day Adventism... because of it’s erroneous doctrines... state that during the one thousand years of the Millennium, the Earth is left desolate and empty, with only Satan and his angels wandering upon it’s parched surface left to contemplate their folly. And more, that at the end of such a period, all of the unrighteous dead are suddenly raised back to life... and with Satan’s prompting these masses are once again deceived into attacking The Holy City of Jerusalem.

This is possibly one of the most ridiculous and absurd doctrines I have every encountered since studying Scripture. Not only does it require taking verses out of their obvious chronological state... but then applying them to the most unreasonable context.

For we are to told to believe that at that time... every person that had ever lived will be upon the Earth, for with the New Jerusalem having descended from Heaven full of the Saints [plucked out of Rev 21:2], and all of the unbelievers suddenly raised back to life, everyone who had ever lived will be upon the surface of the Earth at that time. Shall we say 20 billion plus?

Then we are to believe that the majority, even the billions of unbelievers who have been jolted back into life upon a desolate Earth, are deceived once again into attacking the Holy City, and with no thought on how to make such an arduous journey they being deceived proceed to make the attempt on foot.

Supposingly these mortal unorganised billions, with no food, fresh water, shelter, transport [inc ships], communication or weapons somehow manage to attack the Holy City in Israel. I think if a handful did manage arrive... having not drowned swimming across the oceans, starved to death or died of thirst within the first week or so... that it would be all they could do to throw a few rocks and stones at the walls of such a glorious and mighty city, even the city where the Lord of all shall abide. It is quite frankly, ridiculous.

9 - And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them,

If we however, should allow the Holy Ghost to reveal scripture to us rather than a lady who was deceived by a ‘fallen Angle’ or her own delusions... then the text appears to be firmly fixed on truth and reality, rather than error and fiction, For doesn’t it make a whole lot more sense to say... that the organised Nations of the Millennium, having been nurtured, built-up and cared for by the Saints and the King during the Millennium period, being made-up of the very same ‘Fallen Rebellious Flesh’ that we walk in today, flesh that even during the Millennium has to be ruled with a ‘Rod of Iron’ [Rev 2:27a]... that it is once again fallible to the lies of the ‘god of this age’ when he is set at liberty to deceive the them? Even Satan and his minions when they are released to finally condemn before all the depravity and rebellious state of ‘Fallen Flesh“

And with God‘s condemnation towards ‘Fallen Flesh’ then fully justified, for the Millennium testifies that they can find no excuse... having lived with no tempter, under a just rule and having an offering for sin [The Good News Preached] offered for their many sins. Fallen Flesh once again declares it’s total depravity before all. For as soon as the tempter is released... they rush to him, rebelling against a just and righteous God... who then having no right to remain, God with His mercy exhausted makes a quick end of... something He could have done at any point in History, but being ‘righteous’ He gives ‘Fallen Flesh’ every chance to acknowledge it’s fallen state and to be changed by the offering of His very own Son, Jesus. [Born again of a new spirit].
Having died these shall for but a moment join their comrades waiting in Hades, to await the soon to come, ‘Great White Throne Judgment’. However... as we shall see, there are a few among this Millennium generation, as there are few today... who recognising their fallen state whilst they lived... accept the sacrifice that Jesus had made for their many sin, even dying in their place.

10 - and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Satan having served his purpose is now cast into the Lake of Fire [Hell] where the Beast and False Prophet were thrown... one thousand years earlier.

11 - Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them.

God the Father sits as judge... ready to judge those waiting in Hades, who will be resurrected to stand before a mighty, Holy and fearsome God [Not to attack Jerusalem as says the SDA], whom now fully aware that they refused the horrifying payment suffered for them by His Son, will not dare open their mouth in defence... as the lies they once trusted in will have grown wings and flown away.

Oh the horror of this moment, the shock of realisation they will endure... it is the thought of this very moment that presses me on when I wish to just ‘keep my head down’ and have an easy life! When I think upon the multitudes of friends and family I have not warned... No wonder at the begining of eternity one of the first things God does is wipe away our tears... for the regrets!!

Revelation 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

12 - And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.

Here Hades is emptied and all the dead are judged out of the books, books that have recorded in them every thought and deed relating to our lives. These are examined and by them a place in Hell is assigned to each and every one, according to their deeds shall their eternity be.

However... another book is opened, which we shall read more of before this blog ends.

13 - And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.

Here we are told once again... that each will be judged according to their deeds, indicating some will suffer more than others in eternity. But make no mistake... all judged here will have their part in Hell [The Lake of Fire]. But this need not have been, for had they but acknowledged their sin, they should have escaped such a terrifying eternity.

14 - Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

Finally... all that offends is cast into Hell. Nothing more could have been done, there were no more excuses left that ‘Fallen Flesh’ could throw at God or accuse Him of.

15 - And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

During the One Thousand years of the Millennium... we who reign with Christ will again preach ‘Christ Crucified’ as we do today. For that rebellious flesh, as ours is doomed. They like we need to be ‘Born Again’... for this ‘flesh and blood’ can not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, the Millennium Kingdom yes, but not the eternal Kingdom of Heaven.

It is my opinion that as today, only a few of the Millennium generation will accept the ‘Good News’ of the Gospel. Thus of those who are resurrected from Hades after the Millennium to stand before the ‘Great White Throne Judgment’, that of them only a tiny band will be led away and escape such a horrifying judgment, why? Because their names as ours shall be discovered written in the ‘Lamb’s Book of Life’.

So a last stark warning to the reader, that if your name isn’t written in ‘The Lamb’s Book of Life’... upon death, you as they shall find yourself waiting in Hades. Trembling at the certainty that your name shall be called, and you as they shall stand before a mighty and Holy God, and like the child who suddenly finds his once cleaver and comforting excuses melt away in the presence of his furious Father... all that will be left is to hear sentence given, and to enter your assigned place in eternity.
So as an overview of this short blog, here is the chronological order of things as mentioned above...
  1. Fallen Man’s rule ends at the return of Christ
  2. The Antichrist and his False Prophet are cast directly into Hell
  3. Satan is held in the Bottomless Pit for the duration of the Millennium
  4. Jesus sets-up His Kingdom
  5. Those that ‘Sleep in Christ’ are resurrected [The 1st resurrection]
  6. Christ’t who are alive at His coming also receive new bodies with them
  7. We reign with Christ for one thousand years over a repopulated Earth, repopulated by the ‘Fallen Flesh’ that survived the Second Coming of Christ [Zechariah 14:16]
  8. The One Thousand year Millennium takes place
  9. Satan is released at the end of the Millennium
  10. The repopulated World made-up of ‘fallen flesh’ rebels against Christ’s rule, and once again follows the promptings of Satan.
  11. God quickly destroys them all
  12. Satan is cast directly into Hell
  13. The Second Resurrection [Hades emptied]
  14. Those from Hades are judged
  15. All not found in the ‘Book of Life’ are cast directly into Hell.
  16. The Heavens and the Earth is destroyed
  17. A New Heaven and a New Earth is created where there will never again be found sin
  18. Eternity begins where they shall be no more tears and no more death
  19. All of Mankind who enter into such a glorious eternity, will be found written in the ‘Lamb’s Book of Life’... why? because having sinned and thus owing the price for sin, which is death... acknowledging their helpless state and inability to cease from sin, repentant they by faith, accepted that God had become a Man to pay the price for the sin of a man, which is death. But being Himself sinless Hades had no right to hold Him who with us was raised to eternal life! Who else did such a thing? Did Mary, Buddha, Paul or Mohammed die in your place? No... but as all they either accepted Christ’s payment for their sin or paid for their own sins themselves... who if being found guilty shall never raise again to eternal life.
1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

For the God of the Bible unlike other gods! is a righteous God... all sin must and will be accounted for, either by us or through His Son Jesus the Christ.

The above verse-by-verse commentary needs no ‘pulling text’ out of chronological order, no ‘theological’ gymnastics are required, all is not only logical but in order. However, if you have a framework suggested by men in which you are to understand End-time prophetic events, you will have great difficulty accepting this, unless you first lay it aside... if but for a moment, as did I... then all will start to fall into place.

The big difference between the likes of me and others who put forth their views... [Such as G White] is that we do not in anyway suggest we are some great person, whom God sends angels to for the purpose of expounding the scriptures to others. For once you start saying that your words are infallible because they are given directly of God... you walk a very dangerous path, as did she. Yes the Word of God is infallible, but not always our interpretation of it, and so it is for that reason I delight in being corrected, for why should I believe a lie... and worse, promote one! But these deluded people... whom say that if you do not unquestionably accept their teaching are damned to Hell, such comments we find in the Vatican, Jehovah’s Witnesses and to some degree in the SDA amongst others. As for the likes of me... test everything, I declare my fallibility before all.
