A Christian friend of mine was asked recently “What takes place at and after death?”. However while answering her request he soon discovered that he too was lacking regarding this subject. That being the case he has asked me to write a small article on the ‘Biblical’ theme of death.
Firstly I would like to point out that I am not the final authority on the topic nor do I pretend to be, however Scripture is. What follows is my Scriptural understanding of the Biblical definition of death. I welcome others ‘Scriptural’ corrections when offered in the spirit of seeking the truth, not however when promoting cultish ideas, what they ‘feel is right’ or what they have experienced. Although I may not always agree with other’s interpretation of Scripture I covet their thoughts, my heart being set on seeking God’s truth and not on promoting my own vain ideas, for that reason I honestly welcome ‘Biblical’ correction.
Secondly, because of the very nature of death, I should like to state, that once dead... no mere man can be sure who has been saved and who has been lost. For the truth is that only God knows what takes place in the heart of the dying. And just as the repentant sinner dying on the Cross besides Jesus found salvation... likewise ‘may’ the dying soul who calls out to the Lord with repentance, understanding and faith in his heart.
42 - And he said to Jesus, Lord, remember me when you come into thy kingdom.
43 - And Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you To day shall you be with me in paradise.
13 - “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many that go in that way.
14 - Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are but few that find it”.
Although I have covered much of this in other blogs and articles... I think it good to bring it all together under one banner.
