The Daughters of Zelophehad.
1st January 2011

Recently I was rudely awakened by the sounds of banging and crashing, it so happened that a stack of old notes and books decided to throw themselves off the top of one of my bookcases in the middle of the night, it was more of a landslide really . Next day I thought it was about time I cast out some of my old notes and I was determined to do so… though it is something I am not very good at. Anyway, after throwing them in my waster paper basket and then retrieving them two or three times, I eventually manage to empty my waster paper basket with the offending notes into my outside recycle bin, and to be honest, I felt quite pleased with my new assertiveness!

However, this week I was reflecting on the numerous attacks on the Bible. There are of cause the ‘in your face’ low lever attacks like…

  • What about the Dinosaurs.
  • What about Evolution.
  • What about other religions etc…

All of which are valid questions and do deserve a valid answer, but when someone finds something Scriptural to assail the ‘Bible believing Christian’ with it is a completely different ball game. For Scriptures if could be proven to be false then we would be in serious trouble indeed, for by the scriptures... or rather by our knowledge of them we either stand or we fall.

Well it was regarding what would appear to be a ‘scriptural discrepancy’ that I was pondering upon when reminded of an old study I did way back in 2008 with K-House. So I immediately set out to find my old study notes which I had last seen on top of my bookcase! Yes, you’ve got it, the notes I’d fought so hard to throw away only a week earlier! I’ve always had trouble throwing away my notes and having at last managed to do so, I found myself upside-down in my recycle bin dragging them back inside my little pad once more!

Eventually I found enough of them to write an article. The apparent ‘scriptural discrepancy’ appears between two genealogy relating to Jesus, recorded in the gospels of Matthew and Luke.
