My name is Karl Munford and I live in the county of Norfolk in the United Kingdom.
Born in 1962 I turned to Christ in 1998, not being raised a Christian I followed the riotous lifestyle that is all too common in the UK today. Unfortunately I went down with M.E. in 2000, an illness that with hindsight I can now clearly see had it's beginnings at least as far back as my late twenties, if not earlier.
Since 2000 I have been almost bedridden 24/7, this is hard for most to comprehend as when rested I can venture out for short periods and look quite well, so to say I am almost bedridden is understandably hard to comprehend, but a fact none the less.
At first, not accepting my condition and working all my life I found it rather diffcult to adjust, I kept trying to start businesses and develop enterprises from my bed, however, when I tried to physically accomplish them I made myself very ill indeed. I still look forward to a full recovery but in God's timing and not my own. I continually remind the Lord of the end of Psalm 27 which I believe He gave me:
Psalm 27:13-14
- I had fainted , unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah In the land of the living.
- Wait for Jehovah: Be strong, And let thy heart take courage; Yea, wait thou for
Jehovah.
When I tell people of my condition and that I am a Christian, I can see the 'cogs' turning in their brain "Ah, he became ill so he turned to God in desperation" but when I tell them that I became a Christian before I became obviously ill they say "So, that's what God does to you when you become a Christian, is it?" When someone's mind is set against God and even to hate Him, there is no turning them!
But honestly, everyone who turns to Christ is broken, me included. It hurts to deny this flesh and give your will over for your entire life to another.
Matthew 16:24-26
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Many have asked, "do you really believe in all that stuff, I mean Noah, Judgment, Hell and all that?" To try to make myself clear I can not think a better way to express my belief than saying:
I believe that the
Word, the Son of God, chose to be born by a virgin of the Holy Spirit into the family of Man. Lived a sinless life in this perverse World and having committed no sin chose to pay for mine. And with the 'law of sin and death' having no legal right to detain Him was raised by the power of God to eternal life. This Man and God, now one of my brethren, seated at the right-hand of all power will return again soon and every eye shall see Him. He will gather together those who recognize their fallen state, God's righteous judgment for sin and thus their need for a savior. And then He will bring judgment to the rest of the World that was unwilling to come into the light of His truth because they loved darkness instead.
He is coming, and everyone will see Him, those who are alive at His coming and eventually those who are dead at the judgment, with terror they will see Him, but for us who have turned to Him, with joy and everlasting peace when our corrupt and mortal bodies will put on incorruptibility and immortality to fulfill the Scripture:
1 Corinthians 15:55
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
